Ronald P. Lanie

Ronald P. Lanie, 87, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on July 30, 2026. Ron was born on June 8, 1939, in Hoopeston, Illinois, to Willard and Katherine Lanie. In 1985, while working at the Little Corporal Restaurant in Kankakee, Ron met the love of his life, Robin. Their friendship grew into a beautiful love story, and they were married on July 9, 1990. Together, they recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, sharing a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Ron spent many years working in automobile sales, a career he truly enjoyed and took great pride in. He never met a stranger and was known for his friendly personality, strong work ethic, and gift for conversation. A lifelong athlete, Ron developed a love for basketball as a young boy, and that passion stayed with him throughout his life. He especially enjoyed shooting hoops with his stepsons and never missed an opportunity to remind them when he had beaten them on the court. An avid euchre and pool player, Ron also loved participating in tournaments and enjoying a little friendly competition. He found great happiness on the water, spending countless sunny days boating with family and friends. A true outdoorsman, he took exceptional pride in maintaining his lawn and landscaping, always making sure everything was just right. Ron was also famous for making what everyone agreed was the best chili—a recipe he proudly kept a secret. Above all else, Ron will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and love for his family. He cherished time spent with those he loved, whether sharing stories, making people laugh, or simply enjoying each other's company. His warmth, compassion, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Ron is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Robin Lanie; his daughter, Kay (Mike) Williams; his sons, Ronnie and Mark (Ina) Lanie; his stepsons, Jeremy (Kerrie) Blanton and Aaron Blanton; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Katherine Lanie; his brothers, Joe and Wayne Lanie; and his beloved son, Brian Lanie. Services are private.
