Robert H. Minor

Robert H. Minor believed there are no strangers; only friends you haven't yet met. Each encounter was an occasion to make a new acquaintance; each new acquaintance was an opportunity to make a friend for life and beyond. Robert of Bourbonnais was summoned to a new adventure, to meet new friends and be with his parents and brother on Friday, September 12, 2025, after a long illness. Robert was the son of Harlen and Mary (nee Raymond) Minor. He was born in South Bend, Ind. on January 5,1955. Robert is survived by his brother Jerry (Connie) Minor; sister Kathy (Frank) Hosek; Special Aunts Lois Billings, Grace Minor and Virginia Minor; cousins Linda (Greg) Glidewell, Brenda (Kevin) Boiken, Chris (Eric) Billings and Joel (Deanna) Billings; Roger St. Louis, Bob (Mitzi) St. Louis, Pam Iverson, Jill (JB) Bautista, and Gina (Kenyon) Sadler. He is also survived by a large, loving brood of nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Michael. Robert had previously worked for Carson Pirie Scott for 30 years. Bob, Bobby, Bammer, Rob or Robert, he was known by many names. When asked how he would like to be addressed, he often said, “Surprise Me”. He believed that life was a series of serendipitous moments to be embraced, not endured. Whether it was the song of a cardinal, the flight of a monarch butterfly or the colorful surprise of a rainbow after a spring rain, Bob was always in wonder of the little things that others so often take for granted. He loved the sensation of the holidays, the life lessons of Charlie Brown, a good water-pistol fight on a hot July 4th or driving around in his little red Tracker with the top down and the wind blowing through his mane. In his heart there was always a place for eternal childhood. While the world around him took on the responsibilities of adulthood, he kept a special place for all of us in Neverland. He took on each day’s tasks with a bit of humor and wonder. His eyes would sparkle above his impish grin when he made you smile. Those same eyes could just as quickly turn puppy dog sorrowful above a quivering chin if he thought he had upset you. Above all, Bob was the keeper of family memories so that the rest of us would not forget. To misquote Peter Pan, “You know that place between sleep and awake, where you’re always dreaming? That’s where he’ll always love us. That’s where he’ll be waiting.” Goodbye Robert, your rainbow will forever be with us. The family wishes to express its utmost gratitude and thanks to the wonderful staffs at Riverside Medical Center, Riverside Miller Healthcare and, especially, Uplifted Care. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
