Marvin L. Saathoff

Marvin L Saathoff, 86, of Herscher died Wednesday January 22, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center, in Kankakee. Marvin was born June 19, 1938, in Saint Anne, Illinois to Clarence and Margaret Morrow Saathoff. He married, the love of his life, Judith Hill on April 17, 1961, in Kankakee, Il. Marvin worked and retired from Ecolab after 20 dedicated years. He was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Marvin was a family man, with a huge heart, he had a great sense of humor, being ornery to the very end. He loved watching sports and doing his wordsearch puzzles. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and Walter Peyton fan. He was a fix it man, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. Marvin was a member of the Herscher Catholic Church for many years. He is survived by his wife Judith Saathoff of Herscher. Two sons, one daughter, and one daughter in law. Michael and Cathy Saathoff, of Bradley, Timothy Saathoff, of Herscher, and Lisa Turkmen, of Jackson, MO. One sister Linda (Larry) Mackin, of Kankakee. Five sisters in laws and five brother in laws Susie (Richard) Duncan, of Clifton, Marilyn Martino, of Bourbonnais, Kevin (Ellen) Hill, of Bonfield, Shirley Saathoff, of Bradley, Donna Saathoff, of Bourbonnais, Dennis Hill, of Manteno, James Karnes, of Arizona, and Tom Hill, of Bloomington. Nine Grandchildren Layne (Andrew) Vanek, of Jackson, MO, Morgan Pombert, Jackson, MO, Tiffany Saathoff Wormely (Keith), of Limestone, Alyssa Saathoff (Eve), of Oregon, Judith (Joshua) Baker, of Clifton, Monica Saathoff, of Bourbonnais, Rebecca Laue, of Bourbonnais, Kristen Whitehead (Tom), of Champaign, and Matthew Whitehead (Kim), of Dwight. Nine great grand kids Abby, Ava, Azlynn, Nathaniel, Aiden, Ryleigh, Mason, Analia, and Noah. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Margaret Morrow Saathoff, one sister Mary Ann Pilotte, five brothers Clarence Robert “Bob” Saathoff, Donald Saathoff, Ed “Tiny” Saathoff, Jerome “Jerry” Saathoff, and Thomas Saathoff. Father and mother-in-law Francis and Dorothy Hill. Four sisters in laws and three brother in laws Patrica Saathoff, Karen Hill, Phyllis Karnes, Betty and Jimmie Bavis, Brian Hill and Sam Martino. Granddaughters late husband Shannon Wormely. Visitation will be at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Herscher on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am with a funeral mass at 11 am. Burial will be 2:00 pm at Abraham Lincoln National in Elwood, IL. Jensen Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
