Robert (Bob) E. Wolfert, 88 of Bradley, passed away Sunday November 14th, 2021 at his home surrounded in love. Bob was born December 11th, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the son of Edward and Catherine (Butter) Wolfert. Bob married the love of his life, Mary (Yockey) Burger on March 2nd, 2000 in Crown Point, IN. They met at Riverside Hospital where they both volunteered. Bob was a proud member of Teamsters Local 710 until his retirement and was also a proud US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. Bob was a self-taught gifted and talented musician, playing the piano and organ he could hear something and sit down and play it "by ear". He enjoyed going to local nursing homes and playing for the residents regularly and would often be found playing his keyboard or organ at home for his "Little Baby doll" Mary. His favorite songs were You Are My Sunshine & Let Me Call You Sweetheart along with Church Hymns, Show tunes & Christmas Music. He also loved to dance and was a member of the Bradley Moose and he and Mary would often be there on Friday nights for dinner, music and dancing. He was an avid bowler and bowled in several Men's Leagues over the years as well as a Church League with Mary. Bob was also a member of Countryside Community Church, Kankakee IL. Bob loved meatballs from Luconi’s, pastries from Pierson’s Bakery, biscuits & gravy from Carlos, chili from Poor Boys, Crappes (Frappes), Chester Puffcorn, Sardines & herring, anything chocolate, hot sauce and Twinkies. He loved watching gameshows and Chicago sports teams. He loved his Grand dog Comet Fireball and always enjoyed when he would visit. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Wolfert of Bradley Daughters; Kim Peck (Will) Hobart, IN. Debra McGehee (Jurgen) Cherry Valley, IL. Son: Chris Wolfert (Sue) Rochelle, IL. 16 Grandchildren; Amy, Wendy, Cherrie, Mark, Kristin, Stephen, Gail, Allison, Robert, Rana, Sean, Eric, Scott, Melanie, Christopher & Lindsey and Numerous Great Grandchildren. Bob is also survived by; Stepdaughter & Son-in-law; Bonnie & Mike Felesena Bradley IL. Stepson & Daughter-in-law; Jerry & Ellen Burger, Antioch, IL. Stepdaughter & Son-in-law; Nancy & Raymond Raspolich, Kankakee, IL. Step Granddaughter, Kelly Felesena, Kankakee, IL. Step Grandson, Justin Felesena, Bradley, IL Step Grandson, Bryan Burger, Iowa City, IA Step Great Granddaughter, Emma Stevenson, Kankakee, IL Chris Norton, Bradley, IL A very special friend, caregiver who is family by choice, and who Bob loved dearly. Bella Chio, Kankakee, IL A special caregiver who provided loving care for Bob during his final journey. Also many wonderful friends, neighbors, and the wonderful staff at Uplifted Care who were always willing to help in any way that was needed. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Wolfert; 3 brothers and 1 sister. A visitation will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 at Jensen Funeral Home, Kankakee from 1pm until the funeral servie at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Uplifted Care.
