Lois G. Bangs

January 12, 1934 - April 6, 2020

Lois G. Bangs, 86, of Kankakee, IL passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born January 12, 1934, in Houston Texas the daughter of Edgar and Mabel Nichols. She married Reverend Clarence A. Bangs on May 22, 1956. Surviving include daughter, Cheri Dickey of Orlando, FL, sons Stuart (Sandra) of La Porte, IN, Stephen (Sheila) of North Aurora, IL, 7 grandchildren Shaun, Andrew, Brandilynn, Sarah, Melissa, Christopher, and John Paul, 16 great grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Nichols of Kankakee, brothers Andrew (Gwen) Yee of Honolulu, HA, Reuben (Connie) Nichols of Eustis, FL, brother-in-law Robert Mills, and sister-in-lawBetty Nichols.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother, her son-in-law Terry Dickey, her sister Phyllis Mills, and brother, John Nichols. Lois was a graduate of Nebraska Christian College. She was a faithful member of Central Christian Church where she was involved in many church activities. Over her lifetime, in the various churches she was so proud to be a part of, she served as Elder, Deacon, President of various Boards, church secretary, pianist, organist, and Sunday School Teacher. She also led Women’s Ministries, was Chair of the Elders, and participated in the Prayer Shawl Group. She did many projects for women’s work in the region. She began her life in a missionary family, which lived in Tibet for several years. Her life was dedicated to her family and her church. A Memorial Service will be held at a future time at Central Christian Church(Disciples of Christ) 310 Main St., N.W. Bourbonnais, IL. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, Bourbonnais.
