John Anthony Schloendorf

September 11, 1950 - April 30, 2017

John Anthony Schloendorf, age 66, passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno after a long struggle with ALS. He was born September 11, 1950 in Kankakee, IL, the son of Jack and Elenore Schloendorf (Mader). John worked for Conrail, Texize, Kankakee State Park, and Hertz Car Sales. He was a partner in the Merchant Street Newsstand and RJ Brewing Company. John owned and operated Mobile Auto Color and Windshield Repair. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John enjoyed horse racing, fishing, cribbage, euchre, and the Chicago White Sox. Surviving are two sons Matthew and Todd; grandson Zachary; brother Rick Lindhorst; sister Sally Kutemeier; and special friend Cindy Schloendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jamie Schloendorf; and sister Cindy Leone. Cremation rites were accorded with a burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. on May 4, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 13, 2017 at Grace Community United Methodist Church in Bourbonnais, IL at 1:30 pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 pm.
