Donald Paul Truschka

May 28, 1933 - January 8, 2022

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Paul Truschka. He was a bright spark in this world, with a kind and loving heart and a wonderful sense of humor who always loved making people laugh and smile. He will be deeply missed by many. Donald, age 88, of Lake Village, IN; born and raised in Blue Island, IL passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his home with his 2 daughters at his side. He is survived by his two loving children Susan (Victor) Hasbun and Lesa (Guy) Milburn; Cherished Grandchildren Mandy Silva, Richard Silva, Lawrence (Emily) Silva, Marc Rekasis, Shane Truschka, Seven adored great grandchildren, Amber Christensen, Cecilia Silva, Aidyn Abenente, Alexander Madrigal, Benjamin Silva, Lucas Madrigal and Olivia Silva; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his parents Frank and Bertha (Collatz) Truschka; beloved wife Mary Lou Fuller; Siblings Bernice, Frank, Thomas, Edward, Albert, Frederick and Lawrence; Great Grandson LJ Madrigal. Donald was an Army Veteran who consistently wore his Korean Veteran hat with pride. After over 30 years of working on the railroad, Donald retired in 1995. Retirement allowed him to do more of the things he loved such as fishing, horse racing, gambling, spending time with his family and spending time at his cottage in Rhinelander, WI, where so many of his family and friends have such fond memories of their time there with him. Services are private, but a memorial will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
