Carolyn S. Purnell

Carolyn S. Purnell, 65, of Kankakee passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Riverside Medical Center. She was born August 12, 1956 the daughter of Vernon J. and Arlene M. (Cook) Breitbarth. She was an avid crafter. She enjoyed baking and crocheting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Carolyn is survived by her three children, Jeremy (Michelle) Purnell of Kankakee, Mary (Anthony) Melvin of Kankakee, and Bobbie Sue (Kenneth) Morrow of Kankakee; 6 grandchildren, Anne Marie (Ryan Bisaillon) Purnell of St. Anne, Jeremy Jr (Helaina Regnier) Purnell of Bradley, Robert (Sofia) Melvin of KS, Michael (Adrianna Hupp) Melvin of Kankakee, Elizabeth (Isaiah Whitcolmb) Purnell of Edgewood, and Christian Melvin of Kankakee; 2 great grandchildren, Emberlynn Purnell and Owen Edward Bisaillon, with 2 great grandbabies on the way; 5 siblings, Marcia Halferty of WA, Karen Perkins of CA, Denise Dodds of Clifton, Kevin Breitbarth of Joliet, Sandra Varela of Kankakee; a sister-in-law, Sharon Breitbarth of Kankakee; a god-son, Clifford (Melissa) Hunte III of Wentzville, MO; and a close friend, Nancy Lezotte of Orlando, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and sisters, and a great grandson, Clifford Purnell. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 9am until the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Karl Koeppen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
