Vicki S. Webber

Vicki Sue Webber, 69, of Bourbonnais, died peacefully on March 14, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson, Arizona with her loving family at her side. Vicki was born into the Catholic Faith on November 22, 1954, in Kankakee, the second of six children, to Regina A. (Lochner) and James W. Webber. Vicki grew up in Herscher and graduated from Herscher High School in 1972. She then attended Marycrest Business School. She began working at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1974 and worked there until her retirement in 2019. She logged many miles transporting patients for the radiology department. If you were hospitalized at St. Mary’s during those years, there is a great chance Vicki escorted you to Radiology with a smile and well wishes. She was a kind and friendly face to many patients going through difficult times. Vicki was loved by her work family and the many patients she transported through the years. Vicki loved her family deeply and was also blessed with a bonus family of her housemate, Donna Gigl. Vicki was the most loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, and friend you could find. Vicki never missed an opportunity to send a greeting card for every holiday or to take pictures of every gathering she attended. Family always kidded her that she would have a fortune if she’d kept all the money she spent on cards, stamps, and multiple prints of her photos. She spent many hours babysitting her nieces and nephews, co-workers’ children and those of friends. Vicki was also a caregiver whenever needed. She never attended a family gathering without bringing her famous sugar cookies or Scotcharoos. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed cross-stitching, making beautiful Diamond Art pictures, and plastic craft Christmas decorations. She enjoyed reading and listening to music. She loved going out with her work family. She kept us all up to date on the snowfall via her deck goose/duck. Vicki was an Arizona snowbird and truly loved everything about her time there. Nothing made her happier than sharing the vistas and landscapes of Arizona, not to mention favorite restaurants, with visiting friends and family. Vicki is survived by her sisters, Debbie Jensen and JoAnn (Mark) Wenzelman of Herscher, Nancy (Joe) Muus of Castle Rock, CO, Gail (Dale) Miller of Kankakee, and brother, Jim (Gina) Webber of St. Anne and special uncle, David Lochner of Kankakee. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were all loved by Vicki. In addition, she is also survived by her longtime housemate and friend, Donna Gigl; special friends Larry and Sandra Nims and their family. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Lawrence and Etta Lochner, James B. and Elma Webber, brother-in-law, Gary Jensen, and step-father, James White. A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4pm until the memorial service at 7pm at Jensen Funeral Home, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family or the Ronald McDonald house.
