Sharon A. Benjamin

Sharon Ann Benjamin, 86 of Manteno, passed away Saturday, January 11,2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born August 10, 1938, in Kankakee, the daughter of Lawrence and Beatrice (Wolf) Lottinville. On October 6, 1956 she married Sidney Benjamin at the St. Anne Catholic Church. As a young adult, she worked as a beautician and then went on to study at American Floral Arts in Chicago and became a floral designer. Sharon owned and operated the St. Anne Floral Shoppe for 10 years and worked at several flower shops throughout the county. Sharon Ioved nothing more than being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved making her house a home. She would spoil her grandchildren every second she could and was known as the "no rules apply grandma”. Being a kid at heart herself she never missed an opportunity to bring her grandchildren to the zoo, park, fairs, the Exploration Station, play in the snow, or to have a sleepover. One of Sharon’s favorite pastimes was the annual fall hayride and bonfire with her family. She also enjoyed all types of sweets, crafting, and Christmas. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Sidney Benjamin of Manteno; three children, Kim Matherly of Bradley, Todd (Colleen) Benjamin of Wilmington, and Kendra Benjamin of Bradley; sisters, Sandra (Larry) Arseneau of California and Lana (Steve) Sebring of Ashkum, sister-in-law Marilyn Lottinville of St. Anne, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger (Jeanne) Benjamin of Bourbonnais, grandchildren, April (Mark) Clutter, Angie (Tom) Swaw, Joshua Condon, Kaylie Ward, Cory Ward, Jake Benjamin, Luke Benjamin, Kelsey Bond, and Rylie Bond: as well as 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Benjamin, grandsons, Eron Condon and Cameron Ward, her parents, Lawrence and Beatrice Lottinville: brother, Larry Lottinville; in-laws, Riley and Helen Benjamin, sister-in-law, June (Bill) Moranz and sister-in-law,Clara (Jim) Burge; and brother-in-law, Larry Benjamin. Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Deacon Pat Skelly officiating at Jensen Funeral Home, Kankakee. The burial will be at 10 a.m on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Beaver Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
