Norman Brutlag

Norman Brutlag December 21, 1940 – February 3, 2025 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Norman Brutlag, age 84 of St. Anne, who left this world surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 21, 1940, Norman lived a full life dedicated to family, faith, and his passions. Known for his love of antiquing and collecting cars, Norman had a remarkable ability to find beauty and history in objects others might overlook. But more than anything, Norman cherished the time spent with his family and friends. His love for them was boundless, and his warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. A man of deep faith, Norman’s love for God was central to his life, and he lived with integrity and grace. His spirit and influence will live on in the many lives he touched. Norman will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who had the privilege of knowing him. Norman is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia Brutlag of St. Anne, IL; his four daughters, Kim (Steve) Abrassart of St. Anne, IL, Sharon (Fred) Abrassart of St. Anne, IL, Lisa Graves of Broomfield, CO, and Michelle (Andrew) Hasik of St. Anne, IL, all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride to him. He is also survived by one brother, Gerald Brutlag of Watseka, IL; two sisters, Lois Mowrey of Morris Chapel, TN and Judy (Robert) Jackson of Papineau, IL; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Brutlag of Potomac, IL, Iris Brutlag of New Burnside, IL, Shirley Kort of Omaha, NE, Mary Jane Jones of Kankakee, IL, and Clarice Reynolds of Mesa, AZ. He was deeply proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Additionally, Norman leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Sena Brutlag; 3 brothers, LuVern Brutlag, Richard Brutlag, and Kenneth Brutlag; one sister, Joyce Bullock; 6 brothers-in-law, Royce Bullock, Bob Mowrey, Lester Kort, Donald Jones, George Stalnecker, Dean Reynolds; and 2 sisters-in-law, Elaine Brutlag and Cheryl Stalnecker. A visitation will be held at Jensen Funeral Home in Kankakee from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, and on Friday, February 7 at 10am with services beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Anne Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Uplifted Care 482 Main Street NW, Bourbonnais, IL 60914.
