Myrtle touched the lives of many through her kindness, love, laughter, and generosity. Myrtle K. Sirois, passed away on March 22, 2026, age 79, at the University of Chicago Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1946, in Kankakee, Illinois, to J.B. and Mary B. (Gordon) St. John. A lifelong resident of St. Anne, Illinois, Myrtle made her home on the same quiet roads she would later travel faithfully in service to her community. She dedicated many years as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, delivering not only letters and packages, but also smiles and kindness. On September 18, 1965, Myrtle married the love of her life, George W. Sirois, Sr., in Kankakee. Together they built a life grounded in devotion, companionship, and shared joys. Their bond remained strong throughout the years, a testament to enduring love. Myrtle found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing cards, challenging friends and family to games of Scrabble, and spending quiet moments solving crossword puzzles. These pastimes reflected her sharp mind and her love for connection, whether through friendly competition or shared laughter. She is survived by her beloved husband, George W. Sirois, Sr.; son, George W. Sirois, Jr.; daughter, Gayle (Erik) Hammond; sister, Carol Grady. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law James (Patricia) St. John and Gary (Linda) St. John. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Mary St. John, as well as two brothers and three sisters. Myrtle leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
