Martin Lee Haney

Martin “Marty” Lee Haney, 71 of Bourbonnais, entered eternal life on Friday, September 26, 2025, while hospitalized at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, surrounded by loved ones. Born the third of five, on November 15, 1953, in Harrisburg, IL, to Howard and Hazel (Williams) Haney, Marty was a hippie at heart with a laid back personality that was evident when you saw his long hair and full beard. Marty loved music, guitars, and acquired an impressive collection of CDs and DVDs over the years. His eight “grand-dogs” provided him with endless comedy, and if you were around when he gave the famous “Haney Humph,” well, you knew exactly what he meant without another word being spoken. He passed his love for music and motorcycles down to both of his kids. Nothing made him prouder than hearing Riah sing or watching John shred on the guitar. He also had a real love for the holidays. Marty was usually the first to show up, the last to leave, and was guaranteed to pile his plate high with turkey! He truly loved spending time with family. Whether it be telling stories or sitting back and listening. You’d be sure to find him with a smile on his face and coffee cup in hand. As a Pentecostal Christian, faith was the core of Marty’s life. He was a believer who deeply loved Jesus, believed in the power of prayer, and spent many evenings watching Jimmy Swaggart. Preserving his legacy are his children, Myriah Williamson (Tyler LeClair) and Jonathon (Francesca) Haney; his sisters: Janice (James) LaGesse, Judith (Bill) Smothers, and Jeannie (Michael) Howard; his sister-in-law Pam Haney; grandchildren Brenna Lee Williamson and Henry Lee Titus Pacione; and more nieces/nephews, and great-nieces/nephews than you can count; along with his bonus family: daughter Kimberly Therault; grandkids Anne Gallo (Taylor Minard) and Bailey Naese; and a whole crew of great-grandkids. He was welcomed into Heaven by his son Brandon Williamson, his brother Michael Haney, and his parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church in Bourbonnais, with Pastor Duane Denboer officiating. Burial will follow at Bonfield Cemetery. Marty’s favorite color was blue, as is the color for colon cancer awareness; so we encourage you to wear blue for Marty! Jensen Funeral Home in Kankakee is handling the arrangements. In Marty’s honor, memorials may be made to the family.
