Gina Catherine Weaver

Gina Catherine (Regnier) Weaver, 81, of Kankakee, peacefully passed away while listening to Irish music on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Riverside Miller Healthcare in Kankakee with her dear friend by her side. Gina was born on October 28, 1942, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, the daughter of Ancil Joseph and Margurite Eloise (Goepper) Regnier. She married Dana Weaver on November 12, 1977, in Griffith, IN. Gina always said that marrying Charles was the happiest day of her life. For over 20 years Gina wrote and recorded ads for a local radio station, WKAN, and other radio stations in California. In 1982 Gina and Dana started a cheesecake business in their Fresno, California apartment. Eventually opening a public location, they named ‘Cheesecake N’ Stuff. They were especially known for their gourmet New York Style and flavored cheesecakes. Gina was a parishioner of Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais for many years. Gina traveled to Ireland twice with a large group of friends that she shared her love of all things Irish. She had a wonderful sense of humor and made many people smile and laugh with her joyful and joking ways. Gina had a generous heart, was very sociable, and enjoyed and embraced many people throughout her life, including her new family of friends at Miller. She also loved her pets, especially her 2 dogs, Gizmo and Ginger. Gina is survived by her stepson, Thomas C. Weaver of Michigan City, IN. and his family; a stepdaughter, Linnea M. (Weaver) Laverty and family; several cousins; many friends that loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband, Dana Weaver. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Dr. Charles Swanson, the staff of Riverside Medical Center, as well as the staff and residents of Riverside Miller Healthcare for their care, concern, treatment, and love for Gina throughout her stay there. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial for Gina and Dana’s remains will be held at a later date at Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee, IL Jensen Funeral Home in Kankakee is handling the arrangements.
