Erik J. Lindgren

Erik Jon Lindgren, 63, of Burr Ridge, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 18, 1963, in River Forest, Illinois, to Jon Lindgren and Martha (Lindgren) Magura. Erik married the love of his life, Karol Lynn Lindgren, on February 1, 1986, in Downers Grove, Illinois. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and creating lasting memories. Erik's greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved, especially his wife and children. A U.S. Navy veteran, Erik was an extremely hard-worker throughout his life. He attended Willow Springs Community Church and was known for his outgoing personality, love of fun, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Erik had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed watching motocross, bike riding throughout the Chicago area, fishing, and playing golf on his home-made course. He was known for keeping immaculate care of his house and yard, and for putting his personal touch on every corner of his home. He also loved riding his motorcycle, spending time outdoors, watching movies and British sitcoms with his family, listening to music, and playing games including darts, ping pong, chess, and card games. He had a fascination for animals and nature, carrying a specific love of snakes. Above all, Erik cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karol Lynn Lindgren; his children, Max (Katherine) Lindgren, Annika (Joseph) Adrian, and Kirsten Lindgren and her fiancé, Tommy Kuliavas; and his grandchildren, Liam Lindgren and Wes Lindgren. He is also survived by his brothers, Leif (Donna) Lindgren and Bjorn (Jodie) Lindgren; step-brother Brian (Kim) Magura; brother-in-law Karl Engquist; sister-in-law Karin (Mark) Reid; step-sister-in-law Michelle Magura; as well as nieces, a nephew, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Lindgren; his mother, Martha Magura; his stepfather, David Magura; and his stepbrother, Mark Magura. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Open Bible Center, 410 S. Small Avenue, Kankakee, Illinois, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Bjorn Lindgren. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support the family. Erik will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his faith in Jesus, his love of family, his unwavering loyalty to his wife, and a lifetime of passions and interests that he lovingly shared with his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
