Delmar "Dunnie" Williams Jr.

Delmar “Dunnie” Williams Jr., 75, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Born in Kentucky, Dunnie is the son of Delmar and Hattie Mae (Fritts) Williams Sr. Delmar. On December 25, 1985, he met the love of his life, Wanda Truesdell, in Kankakee, Illinois. Their relationship blossomed into a lasting partnership, and they were united in marriage on April 15, 2000, in Woodlawn, Illinois. Dunnie lived a life defined by hard work, service to his country, and devotion to his family. He was self-employed for many years, working in construction, auto mechanics, and lawn care. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. Dunnie enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, working with his hands, and woodworking. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Dunnie served during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Dunnie is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Williams; his children, Thomas (Irene) Harris of Donovan, Illinois, Jeremiah Harris of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Thomas (Brittany) Rebmann of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Gloria (John) Pawlak of Crown Point, Indiana, Debra (Timothy) Hall of North Judson, Indiana, and Kimberly (Timothy) Karraker of Bradley, Illinois. He is also survived by his brothers, Mark (Judy) Ritchie of Clay City, Kentucky, and Harry Ritchie of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; his sisters, Evelyn Groth of Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania, and Linda Rothwell of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; his brothers-in-law, Richard (Debbie) Truesdell of Quinlan, Texas, Allen (Laurie) Truesdell of Sparta, Michigan, and Mark (Judy) Truesdell of Bradley, Illinois and Curtis Riston of Watseka, Illinois; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jackson of Kankakee, Illinois, Nancy Hiese of Conklin, Michigan, Shirley Evans of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Donna (Terry) Walthers of Cabery, Illinois, and Elaine (Joseph) Peppin of Bradley, Illinois. Dunnie was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, Oris Ritchie; his son, Scottie Williams; his brothers, A.J. Williams, Virgil Williams, and Charles Williams; his sister, Eloise Castropao; his brothers-in-law, Victor Truesdell, Lavern Truesdell, Robert Truesdell, Harry Groth, and Rex Rothwell; and his sisters-in-law, Anita Harvil, Dorothy Truesdell, Kathy Riston, and Linda Shafroth. Dunnie will be remembered for his love of family, dedication to his work, service to his country, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. His memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at Jensen Funeral Home of Kankakee on Saturday June 27, 2026 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Military honors will be a 5 pm.
