Cecilia Brutlag

Cecilia Brutlag, 81, of St. Anne, Illinois, entered her heavenly home on September 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Cecilia dedicated her life to caring for others, both in her work and in her faith. She served as a Food Service Director and held many other jobs throughout her life, always approaching each role with dedication and compassion. Beyond her work, she was known as a devoted prayer warrior, faithfully lifting others up and offering comfort through her unwavering faith. Her greatest joy was her family. Cecilia adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved playing card games and dominoes with her family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her strength in prayer, and the unconditional love she poured into the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her family finds hope in knowing that the prayer warrior they knew on earth is now rejoicing in heaven, reunited with her beloved husband, Norman. Cecilia is survived by her four daughters: Kim (Steve) Abrassart of St. Anne, IL; Sharon (Fred) Abrassart of St. Anne, IL; Lisa Graves of Broomfield, CO; and Michelle (Andrew) Hasik of St. Anne, IL. She is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Kort of Omaha, NE, Mary Jane Jones of Kankakee, IL, and Clarice Reynolds of Mesa, AZ; four sisters-in-law, Mary (Brian “Buz”) Meents of Watseka, Lois Mowrey of Morris Chapel, TN, Joyce Brutlag of Potomac, IL, and Iris Brutlag of Bourbonnais, IL; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Brutlag of Watseka, IL, and Robert Jackson of Papineau, IL. Additionally, Cecilia leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Stalnecker; her father- and mother-in-law, Elvin and Sena Brutlag; husband, Norman Brutlag; granddaughter, Sarah Kay Abrassart; two brothers, Earl and George Stalnecker; four sisters-in-law, Cheryl Stalnecker, Joyce Bullock, Elaine Brutlag, and Judy Jackson; and eight brothers-in-law, Lester Kort, Donald Jones, Dean Reynolds, LuVern Brutlag, Richard Brutlag, Kenneth Brutlag, Royce Bullock, and Bob Mowrey. A visitation will be held at Jensen Funeral Home in Kankakee from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with services beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Anne Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kankakee Pregnancy Resource Center, PO Box 1952, Kankakee, IL 60901.
