Shirley Ann Rechkemmer

Shirley Ann Rechkemmer, 82, of St. Anne, IL passed away November 15, 2018 at her home. She was born December 21, 1935 in St. Anne, IL to Orville and Florence Styck. Shirley attended St. Anne Grade School and St. Anne Community High School. She met the love of her life, Maurice Rechkemmer, in high school. They later married on June 20, 1953 and had two children, Cathy and Michael. Maurice passed away September 25, 2010. Shirley was a member of the Presbyterian Church of St. Anne, IL. She was a cook at St. Anne Grade School for 22 years when she retired in January 2011. She was a cook all throughout her grandchildren attending St. Anne Grade School. She loved her job and all of the people she worked with. Shirley especially loved being there every day to see her grandkids come through the lunch line. Shirley was a strong-willed, sweet, loving, and compassionate woman. She had a smile that lit up the entire room and a laugh that was contagious. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was very proud of her family, most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed any event that involved her grandkids. Shirley loved get-togethers and holidays with her family. Any chance she got to cook for her family and spend time with them meant the world to her. Shirley’s pride and joy was her daughter, Cathy. She kept Cathy on her toes. Shirley was a quite the caregiver and always so kind-hearted. Shirley’s hobbies included bird-watching, baking, cooking, sewing, and playing cards. Everyone loved her cooking, especially her homemade chicken and noodles. Her family requested her noodles at every event. Shirley loved sitting around the table and playing card games drinking her blackberry brandy. She just enjoyed the laughter of everyone. She also loved gardening and canning. In her younger days, Shirley loved going fishing in Canada with her husband. Surviving are her children son; Michael and Judy Rechkemmer of St. Anne and daughter; Catherine Sue Rechkemmer of St. Anne. Three grandchildren: Stacey and Christopher Johnson of Papineau, Sara Rechkemmer and Sam Christiansen of St. Anne, and Michael Rechkemmer, Jr. and Alyssa Royster of St. Anne. Five great-grandchildren: Madison, Kylie, Cole, and Brantley Johnson of Papineau and Adalyn Rechkemmer of St. Anne. Three sisters: Mary Martin of St. Anne, Jeanne and Richard Boudreau of Chebanse, and Carol and Bob Heusing of Marion, Iowa. One brother: Wayne and Vicki Styck of Chillicothe, IL. Many surviving nieces and nephews as well. Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Rechkemmer, mother and father Florence and Orville Styck, her two sisters Joyce (Kenny) Blanchette and Sandra (Wayne) McTaggart, and one brother-in law Leroy Martin.
