John Bean Hussey Jr.

John Bean Hussey, Jr., 73, of Bourbonnais, IL went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 7th, 2022. John was born in New Bedford, MA on December 30, 1948. He was the son of John Bean Hussey, Sr. and Edna Louise (Howard) Hussey. The Hussey Family moved to Tampa, FL in 1953 where he remained until college. On September 9, 1972, he married the love of his life, Brenda Gail Lee in Waycross, GA. In 1969 John received his Associates degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, GA. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Valdosta State College in 1972. Although John valued education, the thing he cherished most from his time at Plant High School (Tampa, FL), ABAC, and Valdosta State College were the many special lifelong friendships he developed. Following college, John enjoyed a long career in heavy equipment sales and management with Rozier Machinery Company and Kelly Tractor Company. John’s integrity and knowledge in his field was greatly valued by coworkers and customers who often became family friends. As an adult, John was an active member of the community and volunteered with various organizations. Sertoma, West Bradenton Little League, Manatee High School Boosters Club, and Charlotte County Young Life were among the organizations that John served passionately throughout different stages of family life. John grew up attending St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Tampa, FL where he proudly served as an acolyte and President of the Youth Group. While raising their children, John and Brenda attended several different churches, but he always cherished his Episcopalian roots as the foundation for his faith. John enjoyed watching and playing sports during his life, among his favorites to play were tennis and golf. However, his real love was fishing. He always enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and was especially loyal to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Lee) Hussey, and they were blessed with 50 years together. He is also survived by his two sons, John B. (Mary) Hussey, III, of Bradenton, FL, Charles Austin (Stefanie) Hussey, of Fort Myers, FL, and daughter, Ashley Diane (Matthew) Cosby of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Julia (Kyle) Scher of Tampa, FL, Katherine Cardinale of Bradenton, FL, Michelle Elise Hussey of Bradenton, FL, John B. Hussey, IV of Bradenton, FL, and Brody Jean Elise Hussey of Fort Myers, FL; his loving sister Deborah (Randy) Rowland of Mattapoisett, MA, niece Amanda (James) Hastings and their son, Foster of Mattapoisett, MA; “big brother” cousin William (Cheryl) Godfrey, of Palmetto, FL. His beloved extended family remains throughout Florida and Massachusetts. John is preceded in death by his devoted father John B. Hussey, Sr., Mother Edna Howard Hussey, and infant grandson Waylon Hendrix Hussey. John’s family will celebrate his life at a future date in FL and MA surrounded by the extended family and friends he loved so well.
